The service has two units, one with 27 beds which provides nursing care to older people and the other with 25 beds which provides intermediate care and rehabilitation. There were 52 people living at the home when we visited. This unannounced inspection took place on 21 December 2018.
We found staff were responsive, attentive and treated people in a kind and considerate manner. The service had robust systems in place to ensure medicines were administered, recorded, stored and disposed of in line with good practice. Staff had comprehensive knowledge of the medicines they administered and the correct procedure in ensuring identified errors were addressed immediately. Prior to employment the service obtained Disclosure and Barring Service checks, references and photo identification for all staff. Background to this inspection
The place was very clean, bright, and the layout of the rooms were nice. There's no need for the service to take further action. – the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve. We reviewed the information and data available to us about Brymore House Care Home with Nursing on 8 December 2022. We have not found evidence that we need to reassess the rating at this stage.
Earlier, water restrictions had been placed only on the facility’s west wing, where the people with the suspected cases lived. In all, 43 nursing homes have been fined a total of $164,000 since 2015, and they have paid about $120,000 of that amount. The home that incurred the most fines — more than $13,000 — was Hudson Pointe at Riverdale Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in the Bronx, records show.

Care designed to provide quality support and comfort for people living with life-limiting conditions. My sister is in the physical rehabilitation part of Amsterdam Nursing Home. We're very comfortable with them as far as we're concerned that it's well managed and well maintained. They seem to be attentive that my sister is comfortable with the care and they seem responsive. Every meal isn't the same, most are good, and some are disappointing.
The care records we examined on the nursing unit were up to date however those we reviewed on the rehabilitation unit had not been reviewed or updated in line with the provider's own policy. We also found that fluid charts were not accurately kept. Staff understood people’s emotional needs and gave reassurance and comfort when needed.
When she is there with Alzheimer's and should be on the floor with nurses monitoring them 24/7. The afternoon staff were not aware what she was in for and when we arrived she was walking around crying and no one was able to understand what she was saying because they didn't speak her language, spanish. We explained to them that she cannot be roaming around unsupervised because she has Alzheimer's and will not remember where her room is and she will honestly try to leave.

We found that there had been a number of improvements in the record keeping however some records were still not accurate.
